Warsaw Crowned Europe’s Top Destination of 2023


The capital of Poland, Warsaw, has been crowned Europe’s best destination for 2023 by European Best Destinations.

In a competition which included more than 400 destinations and received over half a million votes from travellers from 178 different countries, Warsaw received the title of “Best European Destination 2023,” SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Warsaw has been placed first as it has something to offer to everyone. European Best Destinations explains that everyone who visits the city will be amazed by its colourful buildings, palaces, pavilions, and orangeries, as well as its emblematic places.

“Beautiful, friendly, green, open-minded, perfect for a family city break, a cultural city break, a shopping experience, a romantic stay, Warsaw, your European Best Destinations 2023 has something to offer to everyone,” the statement of European Best Destinations reads.

Those visiting Warsaw are advised not to miss strolling in Krakowskie Przedmieście, which is the most prestigious street in Warsaw. Moreover, it has been recommended that everyone visits the Warsaw Barbican.

Warsaw has also been considered one of the safest city breaks in Europe and a sparkling and dynamic city with thousands of activities and experiences to offer, from hot air balloon flights to local culinary specialities.

According to European Best Destinations, the majority of votes for Warsaw were from travellers from the United States, Ireland, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Australia. The same has revealed that Warsaw collected a record 142,081 votes.

“This year’s winner is a destination that collected a record of 142,081 votes (+66,439 votes regarding past year’s winner – it is a record of votes since the creation of this competition – the last record of votes was for Porto and its 138,116 votes in 2017),” the statement of European Best Destinations reads.

Moreover, it was emphasised that the first traveller of this year’s edition voted at 00.00.02 sec for Warsaw and that 32,8 per cent of voters came directly from social networks.

Apart from Warsaw, another 19 destinations have also made the list of the top 20 best European destinations for 2023.

As for the total number of votes, data has shown that of all the votes that have been received for the classification of these destinations, 48 per cent of them were from travellers from Europe, and the remaining part was from travellers from outside Europe.

“This is the largest proportion of votes outside Europe since the creation of this event. This year more than ever, foreign travellers show a strong interest in travelling to Europe,” Best European Destinations stressed.

The other destinations that have made the top 20 Best European Destinations 2023 list are Athens (Greece), Maribor (Slovenia), Vienna (Austria), Cittadella (Italy), Essen (Germany), Veszprém (Hungary), London (UK), Grenoble Alpes (France), Mannheim (Germany), Porto-Santo (Madeira Islands), Toledo (Spain), Faial (Azores), Rhodes (Greece), Copenhagen (Denmark), Tossa de Mar (Spain), Ascona-Locarno (Switzerland), Milos (Greece), Prague (Czech Republic), and Sóller (Spain).
